Creative ReleaseTN: An empowering workshop - 1 Day
Sunday, February 5, 1-5pm
$75 if pre-registering 1 week prior, or $90 afterward (includes supplies)
This is a one-day workshop that helps you to find a creative release that... heightens awareness and takes personal expression and creates meaning, changes your perspective, is about process rather than final destination, and empowers you through art-making. We’ll use art history, words, color, abstraction, drawing, and painting for altering our consciousness. Then, by representing the human figure, we’ll create connections. No need to fear if you have not drawn or painted since grade school; in fact this workshop is perfect for the novice because our emphasis is on willingness and process.
But I promise you’ll be amazed by your end results. You’ll not only find a release from current stress, but will create a piece of art that reflects this new-found knowledge. The benefits of this workshop are three-fold: (1) You’ll become aware of how artists deal with the human figure; (2) you’ll learn how to really look at color, and see how colors make us feel, socially and personally; and (3) finally you’ll learn how to use drawing and painting to bring about a personal release.

Your Color DNATN
- A code to unlock your creative potential - 1 Day
Friday, February 3, or March 9, 1-5pm
$75 if pre-registering 1 week prior, or $90 afterward (includes supplies)
Every morning we choose colors to wear. Have you ever noticed that you prefer one color over another color? There might be reasons why you choose red for certain situations, or why blue is your favorite color with tan pants. Colors have meaning and purpose.
In this workshop you’ll learn about the color spectrum, and what two colors predominate in you. You’ll learn about the meanings of colors and whether your color that you naturally gravitate toward is a physical, thinking or emotional color. You’ll come with new knowledge of yourself. After we develop this understanding of the meaning of colors, we’ll enter the studio and mix colors. As we mix colors a discussion will occur regarding the adding of different colors and what they mean when we use them to change the hues of other colors and how they reflect who we are. This is a practical application of understanding yourself through the means we all see -- color. it’s a process to unlock the the code of your Color DNA. You will attain rich knowledge.

Accessing your Ambidextrous Potential - 1 Day
Friday, March 16, 1-5pm
$75 if pre-registering 1 week prior, or $90 afterward (supplies provided)
Want to have a good time and explore what’s possible? Activate your right brain and open up talent and new expressions. In this non-traditional workshop we’ll explore using both your dominant and non-dominant hands as a way to explore drawing and design.
You might wonder, “Why explore the use of my non-dominate hand?” Your non-dominate hand, whether its the right or left, carries with it hidden potential to reveal to you alternative talents and ways of seeing/depicting things that you may not be fully aware of. Escape for a day and access your potential.

A Surrealistic Day - Explore Your Dream Life
Sunday, February 12, 1-5pm
$75 if pre-registering 1 week prior, or $90 afterward (includes supplies)
Surrealism means to “surpass reality.” In this drawing class the aim is to explore a dimension of your internal eye rather than your realistic eye. Within the time frame of this class you will explore automatic drawing in conjunction with intuitive drawing and seeing. Surrealists games like the exquisite corpse will be used in different formats to engage the unconscious. The drawing of reslistic objects will be taught, and, to create a surrealistic landscape, other objects will be introduced that are out of context.
Prior to the class the participants are to record several night dreams that they have had to possibly utilize in the class. Pencil and markers will be your tools for creating the uncensored quality of surrealistic drawing. This one-day class is for those who are not looking for a “traditional approach,” as well as for those who need to break out of a stylistic rut. All levels welcome.

Movement toward Conceptual Art Making- 1 Day
Friday March 30, 6-10pm
$75 if pre-registering 1 week prior, or $90 afterward (includes supplies)
Let ideas be the cornerstone of your art making and you truly will gain a visionary approach to who and what you do as an artist. In this one day class you will work with ideas and word associations to come up with conceptual ideas. We will look at symbols and the relationship it has with other symbols in relationship to culture. This is a hands on class so brainstorming and group discussion will be the framework, followed by drawing out ideas. The basic concept used in this introductory class in conceptual artmaking will be the use of juxtapostion. All levels welcome who like to develop their thinking in conjunction to art making.
