“Art: The Solution for Tomorrow”
Saturday, Nov. 20, 6-7pm; to be repeated Sunday, Dec. 19, 4-5pm
FREE
Could art be more important than we are led to believe? Could art be the new thing that moves us as a culture and society to a whole new level? Based on the book A Whole New Mind by Daniel Pink, Shaqe will give a lecture on how we’re moving from the information age to the conceptual age. Artists will be leading this new generation of thinkers and creative doers. Included in the lecture/discussion will be the six top actions necessary to be part of this new kind of thinking. It’s a presentation you don’t want to miss.

Discussion Groups

JUNTO: “The Benjamin Franklin Group”
Second Sundays, 6-8pm
Free(10 people maximum, please reserve your spot by calling 734-604-1735)
This group's purpose is to come together with open minds, in the spirit of inquiry, and explore valuable questions of our time. The diversity and participation of the members is of great importance for the group's success.
The discussion will be free-flowing and not necessarily limited to certain questions. But there will be a theme concept; for example, in our first meeting, the topics revolved around the concept of “happiness.” We hope to model this group after the “Junto” created by Benjamin Franklin in 1727 to exchange knowledge pertaining to morals, politics, philosophy, and business.

Demystifying Modern Art
To be determined, please inquire by contacting Art & Ideas
Free
We might think that there’s no need to talk about modern art since 1900 – “it speaks for itself.” Except when it doesn’t. Art & Ideas’ gallery perspective has allowed us to see that a discussion about art is often needed. There’s a lot of mystery about art that is not easy to perceive or understand at first glance. So having an open dialog about works from different artists and making comparisons to see what inherent meanings are conveyed can actually broaden us and take us into to a wider

Women of Conscience
Third Sundays, 6-8pm
$10 donation (10 people maximum; please reserve your spot by calling 734-634-8117)
This “meet-up” is a group of women who meet once per month to discuss external social forces affecting women's internal personal development. By deconstructing media and the social roles of women in America and abroad, we can see a bigger picture of how we can empower ourselves and others to create change personally and globally. By building relationships and understanding our stories we’ve created individually, we can see a bigger picture to where we’re moving and the choices we can make.
This is a guided discussion group that is facilitated, where topics are discussed and ideas of topics are generated within the group.
